"For the Love of Community, Building a Better Tomorrow."
I’m Lorena Betts. I’m a Brazilian American and a longtime advocate for justice, care, and community power. I’m running for State Representative because I believe in a future where no one is pushed aside, priced out, or left behind.
I come from a family shaped by struggle and courage. My parents grew up under Brazil’s military dictatorship, where speaking out came with risk. In our home, democracy wasn’t just a word, it was a responsibility. That’s the lesson I carry into this campaign.

About Me

Before coming to the U.S., I worked three jobs to cover rent and food. Here, I became an immigration court interpreter, helping people navigate systems never designed to include them. I later served as a legislative aide, where I saw up close how policy can either open doors or keep people locked out.
I co-founded a community organization built on the belief that our well-being is deeply connected. We help people not only survive, but organize, support each other, and build real power in their neighborhoods.

This campaign is rooted in care. For our neighbors, our neighborhoods, and our future. It’s about building a Massachusetts where people can afford to live, access the care they need, and have a real say in the decisions that shape their lives.
Real change starts locally and grows from the ground up.
We’re building something together:
Housing that stays affordable
Care you can actually access
Clean energy that lowers bills
Public funds that serve people, not monopolies

I’m not running to play it safe or protect the status quo. I’m running to bring government closer to the people it’s meant to serve.
If you’ve ever felt like politics wasn’t built for you—this movement is.
